Our People

Barons Pub Company provides an inclusive culture, where we provide everyone with an equal opportunity to progress and succeed. We encourage all team members to fully participate in the professional training and development opportunities that all contribute to a successful and enriching career.

Our teams consist of individuals with varied backgrounds and levels of experience, welcoming team members from school through to university graduates and industry professionals. As a result of our training excellence, many of our people have grown throughout the business, experiencing new roles and new challenges. To hear some of their stories and the learning experiences they have had, we have asked them about their journey through Barons…

Dan Daniss

Kitchen Development Manager

I started my career as a Sous Chef down at The Horseshoe where I enjoyed a sucessful 12 months with Barons. Then I was lured away by another Company but I missed my Barons family and when the opportunity came up for an Assistant Manager role, I applied and re-joined as part of the Front of House team at The Bletchingley Arms. I love training staff and eventually over time, I transitioned into a training role – I am now the Kitchen Development Manager for the Company: Ever-evolving and embracing change!

Amy McEwen

Starting at Barons as a FoH team member when I was 17 gave me the experience and skills I needed, and those same base skills have allowed me to progress further within the business to an Assistant manager. I have gained so much confidence from Barons and have been given so much support with my progression within the business. I am always striving to learn and progress more and Barons is always pushing me to help me reach my full potential.

I have gained a range of invaluable skills during my time at Barons, skills that I will be able to integrate into any job in the future. One of the greatest skills I have gained is the ability to stay composed under a high pressure environment in order to allow me to make logical decisions that not only benefit the experience for our customers but also myself and my colleagues.

Having worked in 4 different sites, I have progressed from Assistant Manager, to Deputy and I now am a General Manager at our lovely busy site near Egham! Working for Barons is a rewarding, ever changing, experience that’s enabled me to grow professionally and personally alongside a like-minded team that holds customer experience at the centre of everything we do.
